Lake Pend Oreille In Northern Idaho

One of the local favorite places to visit here in North Idaho is Farragut State Park, a 4000 acre paradise nesteled on the shores of Lake Pend Oreille (pronounced Ponderay). Farragut State Park has an interesting history as it once housed the Navy's second largest training facility during World War II. The park has many campgrounds and a museum in the old brig which was used to keep the not so nice navel personel. Lake Pend Oreille takes up an area of 148 square miles. It is 65 miles long, and 1,150 feet deep in some regions, making it the fifth deepest in the US.
